These revenues permit the SSS, as an independent academic association not affiliated with any political organization or group, to undertake a number of initiatives. They include:

our open-access peer-reviewed academic journal, Socialist Studies Journal
our annual Society for Socialist Studies Conference.
our Travel Grant Programme aiding scholars in attending the annual conference.
our Errol Sharpe Annual Book Prize, recognizing significant contributions to socialist research in Canada.

These initiatives are important vehicles for established and emerging socialist scholars and contribute to keeping socialist scholarship a vital part of the intellectual and public discourse in Canada and internationally.

All of this takes money. We run on a shoestring budget and a volunteer executive and, to date, volunteer journal editor. But many expenses are unavoidable. Your support makes it possible for us to meet them.
