Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR)

The Canadian Association for Theatre Research is a non-profit organization founded in 1976 to support and encourage research in theatre and performance studies in Canada, with a special interest in Canadian work. Our membership includes scholars, students, and theatre professionals from around the world who are leading developments in our field. CATR/ACRT membership is a great way to stay connected to Canada’s theatre community. Our members are eligible to participate in our yearly conference, vote in our annual executive elections and they also receive subscriptions to Theatre Research in Canada and our informative electronic newsletter (which includes tons of CFPs!).

Our seven-day hybrid conference includes both online and in-person options. The online option gives members access to the two online Acts, and streamed content from the in-person Act. The online and in-person option gives members access to the two online Acts and grants attendance to the in-person Act, with meals and amenities to be detailed at a later date. Flights and accommodation are not included in the registration fee, though in-person registrants will be directed to accommodation options. Graduate students may be eligible to receive support for a portion of their travel expenses through the Graduate Student Travel Subsidy.
